There is something so ancient about drinking a simple cup of tea. Some cultures and people like to jazz up their tea with such things as honey, sugar, agave and milk but I prefer my tea plain and simple. I have always been this way when it comes to tea. For a while I was a green tea monster, then it was on to chamomile. Soon I discovered chai and rooibos teas and couldn’t get enough. Then I learned about the actual healing properties of tea and began to try all different kinds of herbal teas I had never heard of before! Things like dandelion tea and kukicha tea. I still enjoy my tea in the simple form and I am one of those that leaves my tea bag in the mug until I finish drinking the tea.
Currently, I am loving tea by Traditional Medicines. They use pharmacopeial grade herbs in their tea and the flavors are incredibly unique. Right now I am rotating between 3 Traditional Medicine teas called Gypsy Cold Care, Female Toner, and Dandelion tea. the Gypsy Cold Care is great for when one is feeling under the weather but I love it so much that I drink it even when I’m feeling great!. Female Toner supports the female system so this is a great tea for cramps and what not. The Dandelion tea is amazingly detoxing by helping your liver perform at it’s best. All these teas are caffeine free and I believe most if not all of Traditional Medicine teas are caffeine free.
The pic above was taken in Woodstock. That’s a kukicha tea bag steeping in the cup by the way!. Kukicha is very ancient and healing. It came about when the peasant tea farmers saved the tea branches while harvesting the tea leaves. They brewed the tea branches for themselves and discovered it’s healing properties. It’s a very balancing tea and great for drinking after having too much sugar or alcohol. It does have the tiniest bit of caffeine in it but I don’t feel it and I am SUPER sensitive to caffeine.
What kind of tea do you love? How do you enjoy your tea?
