This past October, my parents bought me and my sister the best gift ever! These days, I am trying not to accumulate more stuff. I am on my decluttering mission and learning to take good care of the items I do have and let go of unnecessary ones. But this gift is an exception.
My parents sponsored a duck named Seltzer in mine and my sister’s name. Seltzer lives in Watkins Glen at Farm Sanctuary. I became aware of Farm Sanctuary when I first began following a plant based diet. Farm Sanctuary puts forth a tremendous effort to rescue farm animals from exploitation, abuse and neglect. Their sanctuary allows the animals to live out the rest of their lives in peace and harmony with the earth as well as other farm animals and their human caregivers. They are a wonderful organization. I sponsored a hen name June in my mother’s name for her birthday a few years ago too. Sadly, June passed away this past summer so we now proudly sponsor a hen named Fiesta.
I cannot wait to head up to Watkins Glen and meet all these kind creatures!
For now, here is a picture of Seltzer with some of his information:

looks like a very happy ‘boy’. though he should have been named ‘lucky’.
in fact, all the adopted creatures at farm sanctuary should share that name
Indeed, they are very lucky to experience a peaceful life after enduring such abuse. It so easily could have gone the other way for these animals and the suffering would have continued. Hats off to Farm Sanctaury!
