For the most part, I have been blessed with being able to fall asleep easily. Some members of my family are epic sleepers and can out do even the sleepiest big cats of the feline world. Big cats sleep an average of 18 hours a day by the way!.
Anyway I was reading a Care2 article and learned that cherries, specifically Montmorency cherries, can help you fall asleep and stay asleep. These cherries are very tart and contain a natural source of melatonin, a hormone our brains release to ease and encourage us to hit the pillow. Melatonin is also a powerful antioxidant and helps control human circadian rhythms which is fancy term for our internal body clocks. It’s fun to be a night owl every now and then but human bodies are actually designed to sleep and rejuvenate at night and wake up when the sun greets us in the morning.
For years when I was growing up my father would wake me and my siblings up every morning with an enthusiastic “Rise and shine!.” I guess he was right all along!.
I always assumed fruit would be a last resort for a nighttime snack because of the natural sugars they contain but tart cherries seem to go against the grain. I can’t wait for them to be in season!.
Peace and cherries!

That's surprising. I also would have assumed the natural sugar from the cherries would keep you up, & be something to steer away from if you wanted to sleep. Def. going to try this out, though I am certain I already fall in the category of an 'EPIC sleeper'! Most people do not deal well with not being able to sleep. Since the inability to fall asleep/stay asleep is a rarity for me, I deal with it even worse. I'll give these Montmorency cherries a go on one of those unwelcomed nights. U think these cherries make you tired if you eat them in the daytime?!
From what I researched, they wont make you sleepy if you eat them during the day. And yes you are definitely an "epic sleeper,"
