This is a yummy one folks. Here is a recipe for a healthy snack packed full of protein. Plus it is delicious any time of day!
What you will need:
Organic nut butter (I go for either peanut butter or almond butter)
Ezekiel bread
Justin’s Chocolate Hazelnut Butter (its like vegan nutella!)
1 banana
Cinnamon ( optional)
What to do:
Toast 2 slices of Ezekiel bread (found in the frozen section of your supermarket)
Spread on desired amount of nut butter
Spread on chocolate hazelnut butter
Slice up some banana and place on top.
Sprinkle with cinnamon
This can be enjoyed as open faced slices or put the bread slices together forming a sandwhich and grill it like you would a grilled cheese sandwich. It is a sweet treat that is high in energy and protein!
Some recommendations for nut butters. With organic brands, there tends to be some separation with the oil and this can lead to a mess. A few brands that have organic nut butters without separation are Earth Balance, Justin’s, and Brad’s. Earth balance has agave in it so it is a bit sweeter than the others. You can find these brands at whole foods and most local health food stores.
This knocked my socks off the first time I tried it. Now I try to keep all ingredients on hand so I can make it whenever!
Any sweet healthy treats you enjoy? Please do share!

looks yummy. how caloric is this snack? sounds like a meal, rather than a snack
It is filling like a meal because of the type of calories consumed. It’s not just about how many calories I consume, it’s about what is in those calories that count! This snack is high in potassium, protein and good fat. Also, cinnamon is really great at stabilizing blood sugar levels. Oh and I leave the chocolate spread out sometimes. That is more for when I’m feeling feisty…like today!
