I want to recommend a book for everyone since i cannot stop talking about it. Good sign right?!. The book is called The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Just so you understand, i began to read this book on Friday night at 11:45pm and before i knew it, it was 4:30am on Saturday and i was turning the last page. Basically it’s about a father and young son following a road to get to the south. America is no more. The land has all been burned and destroyed and a toxic ash falls from the sky. the author never goes into what actually happened to the world but it is clear that the young boy was born into this new apocalyptic time and the father’s main goal is to protect him. The road is very dangerous. I won’t go into details because i do not want to spoil anything but use your imagination. Hint: no food or water left and menacing cannibals lurking about. This book packs plenty of suspense and a punch of apocalyptic thrill but without all the jazzed up obvious “end of the world” type atmospheres. The bond between the father and son is deeply moving. The conversations that take place between the father and son are also between a man that experienced the “old world” and a boy who only understands the threat of the new one. It is amazing and i am going to see the movie tonight! Viggo Mortensen plays the father so i hope he delivers the acting goods. I’ll keep you posted!.
