New Years Resolutions are so last year! Resolutions overwhelm me. Must be something about the approach of it that turns me off. Creating resolutions makes me feel like who I am at this moment is not good enough. To this I say, No Thank You and Happy New year!

Over at Be More With Less, Courtney Carver is all bout the love list.
Love lists are a useful tool to get to know ourselves better. When we highlight what we love and why, we open ourselves up to receive and appreciate what we already have in our lives as opposed to what we think we need and/or want.

I like the idea of a New Year’s love list. It encourages me to focus on the positive habits, interests and lifestyle I cultivated in 2011 and bring them with me into 2012. Since I have not posted a love list in some time, I will follow Courtney’s lead and use a love list for a gentle approach as to how I would like to enter 2012.
The Love List:
-My commitment to Treehouse Chatter. Sharing posts I feel offer valuable information for personal growth.
-Reading and learning about topics I am passionate about.
-Yoga, for creating more space and comfort within my own body.
-Cultivating an open mind and deep patience.
-Living and loving the plant based lifestyle.
-Deepening my relationships and getting to know those I love even better.
-My minimalist journey, being considerate to the planet and to myself during my everyday life.
-Expanding my raw self awareness while encountering opportunities to make a better decision that will benefit the planet and all the creatures.
What kind of love will you be bringing with you as your 2012 journey begins?
I want to wish all my readers a happy and healthy new year. I hope we continue to share stories about our personal growth and expand the Treehouse Chatter community. Thank you for reading!

Loved the new calendar year list. It is so generic (in the most positive way) that anyone can adopt it, add to it or remove from it. Yet, its core is universal. Thanks for the clarity!!!
Julie,
So happy this post finds you well!
thanks for the comment

going to make a love list! i have made these over the years but didn’t know they had such an awesome name. i once made one that had 20 things that made me feel happy, and i carried it around in my planner. every once in a while i would put a little check mark next to the activities i’d been partaking in lately. also good to refer to when you’re feeling down in the dumps!
Dal,
I love the idea of making a love list and carrying it around with me. It would be great to have around during those moments in the day when Im feeling less than happy. Last year i kept a list on my phone of all the positive and significant moments that occurred each month. I would look at the list when I felt bored or sad and it was instantly uplifting.
Thanks for the comment!

I think a lot of people set themselves up for failure if they don’t actually create a real and tangible plan to get where they want to be. Have you heard of this mnemonic technique– S.M.A.R.T? This is something I’m going to try this year:) cheers to us and 2012
1. Specific goals-very specific, not just “I want to lose weight this year.” How much weight??
2. Measurable-How will you know you’ve accomplish it? it measures your progress.
3. Attainable-Start off small instead of I want to go to the gym EVERY night.. try every other night.
4. Realistic- actually make goals that are possible to achieve and create a solid plan to get there.
5. Timely-setting a date when you’ll achieve your goals
xx! Mika
Mika,
Thank you for sharing the S.M.A.R.T. technique! This sounds very helpful. I agree that general resolutions and/or intentions can set us up for failure as they bring short lived motivation to our lives but no long term structure to go through the process.
I am currently working on changing my daily “to-do lists” to a weekly structure to help me map out and take advantage of every moment in my day. I think the S.M.A.R.T. technique will really help me with this transition.
Thanks again!

Hello Tali! I am a huge fan of Courtney’s blog too, and so appreciated her approach to the new year. A love list, now why didn’t I think of that! I usually incorporate my values, but get too heavy on the serious side, hard worker and all. I too am enjoying put some fun and love into my goals for the year.
Hi Marci!
I hope more and more people will jump on the love list bandwagon!
I hope 2012 is filled with fun and love for all of us. Happy New Year!
Thank you for reading,
