This post is a wrap up and update for the No Email Wake Up Challenge.
Well, the challenge was amazing and I can now say that I do not check my email first thing in the morning. The habit has been broken and I do feel it has made a positive impact on my morning routine. Once in a while I get a craving to click on the little email icon but so far, I have resisted and I feel better every time I do!
I have become even more curious now about morning routines, rituals and ways for setting ourselves up to have the best day every day. These are some articles/blog posts that have inspired me during the past month.
The Daily Love is an amazing site that offers daily doses of inspiration and positivity. I am loving the article entitled “Wake Up On The Right Side of The Bed” by Chris Assaad.
Check it out and let me know what you think!
Gwen Bell is a super cool chick who is huge in the Internet/website/blog world. Her writing is so simple yet so deep and full of goodness for your life. She poses some difficult questions and I find her to be extremely motivational. Her post entitled Question for Reflection: What Was Your First Thought Upon Waking?” came into my inbox on the perfect day.
I am also loving receiving Daily OM messages in my inbox. The short article, Days of Affirmation is so uplifting and has a few tips on how to transition gently from sleep to your most awake self.
I hope you enjoy these articles. I will soon post some of my own tips and routines for starting the day off with a shot of goodness.
Sweet dreams and happy mornings!
Looking forward to your tips. For someone like me, who has no routines, recommendations would be helpful. While there is something liberating about not following a routine, I sometimes run the risk of being caught in what I call ‘the morning havoc’.
Question: would having set routines run the risk of becoming obsessive compulsive about them?
Great question!
Truth is, I’m not a fan of the word “routine.”. In my mind it feels tied to obligation and that can lead to stress. I suppose if a routine is a series of pleasantly engaging activities that one feels adds to their quality of life, then maybe that kind of routine would be pleasurable. For me, the key is to replace pressure with motivation. If I feel pressured to follow my routine because I know it is worth it in the end, I will eventually stray. If I feel motivated to engage in a positive routine, then I end up feeling grateful and satisfied with what the routine brings to my life.
