I read about this a few months ago and think it is so great. A zero-waste grocery store will be opening (may already be opened) in Austin Texas. There will be NO packaging on any of the items sold. It will mainly be a buy in bulk from bins kind of place.
Buying in bulk is hard for me because I don’t have a lot of storage space in my kitchen but I still buy from bulk bins anyway. I go to the supermarket 3-4 times a week and buy whatever I will need for the next few days. I bring my cloth reusable bags with me so I don’t have to use the plastic ones provided in the store. It is so hard to avoid packaging sometimes but I try my best and if I do buy anything with packaging, I make sure to recycle. It would be amazing to have zero-waste grocery stores everywhere! Hopefully the one in Austin Texas will do well and more like them will be popping up.
